2025 # INSTALLATIONS, OBJECTS
Presence and Absence
Si vis pacem
April 2025, Alpen-Adria-Galerie

In the interactive installation Presence and Absence, two flip-dot displays face each other like mirrors of present and memory. As a visitor approaches the work, a randomly generated geometric shape emerges and remains visible for the duration of the viewing. As the visitor moves away, the image dissolves and reappears on the opposite display – as a fragmented version. This “memory” remains stored in the installation’s memory for a while before gradually disintegrating into its individual parts, almost as if into dust. Eighty years after the end of the Second World War, the work explores processes of remembering and change. It explores how images emerge, transform, and how these can be preserved—albeit in fragmentary form.
